Only 480 were sold; the remaining 9,520 were destroyed on July 23, 1884, by order of the Postmaster General. With 1995 P.F. certificate

Only 480 were sold; the remaining 9,520 were destroyed on July 23, 1884, by order of the Postmaster General. The 30c is one of the tightest-margined of the series. This is an extraordinary stamp, by virtue of its wide margins and choice centering. Ex Silver Lake and Gorham. With 1985 and 2004 P.F. certificates.
