Top plate no. 13467 block of six, bottom left stamp transition perfs from 11 to 10, other two stamps at bottom perf 10 at bottom, bright color, center stamps lightly hinged, top center stamp tiny thin spot VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE PLATE BLOCK OF THE 11-CENT PERF 10 VARIETY. ONLY THREE SUCH PLATE BLOCKS ARE KNOWN. AN OUTSTANDING EXHIBITION PIECE. We record the following plate blocks containing Scott 511a: 1) plate no. 13470 with two Perf 10 stamps in the bottom row, ex Zoellner; 2) plate no. 13467, off-center with perfs touching at right; 3) plate no. 13467, three Perf 10 stamps in the bottom row, including a transitional 11-to-10 gauge, the example offered here; 4) plate no. 13469 with two transitional and one Perf 10 stamp in the bottom row, ex Sirron collection (Siegel Sale 1001, lot 2077).
