Tied by light strike of purple cancel on postcard originating in Switzerland, sent to New York, forwarded to San Francisco and forwarded again to Yokohama, Japan before returning to Switzerland, originating postage paid by 2fr and 3fr Swiss stamps tied by “Kriens 1.IX. 98” circular datestamps, U.S. 2c stamp applied in New York with Sep. 12 circular datestamp and “San Francisco Sep. 17 machine cancel, back of card with San Francisco Dead Letter Office triangular datestamp, sent to Japan where 4s stamp applied in Yokohama, endorsed “Via India” and “Via Suez”, back of card reads (in three languages) “Please address this card so as to make the circuit of the world and back”, some edge flaws and stamps with few flaws, still Very Fine and colorful use, a very unusual item as goodhearted postal workers must have applied the additional postage to make this trip happen, the voyage of this card almost ended in San Francisco
