12c Black, Z. Grill (Scott 85E). Extra wide margins and choice centering, intense shade, light cork cancel, single short perf at lower right mentioned on accompanying certificate EXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1868 12-CENT Z GRILL. Although the 12c is the most common of the Z Grills, it is still extremely scarce compared to other regular-production grilled issues and is very rarely found in Extremely Fine used condition. This fact is reflected in the P.S.E. Population report statistics, which lists only 32 used stamps in any grade, of which a mere eight are graded higher than 80. With 2008 P.S.E. certificates (VF-XF 85, SMQ $4,050.00). Without the short perf this stamp would certainly have graded 90. In any case, it deserves the Jumbo appellation.
