IT IS BELIEVED THAT ONLY THREE EXAMPLES OF THE ONE-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL WITHOUT GRILL ARE KNOWN, ACCORDING TO THE ROSE BOOK. We have offered only two since keeping computerized records. One was offered in our 1997 Rose sale. The other, ex Coulter, was recently offered in our 2009 Whitman sale. The example offered here has been off the market for approximately 50 years.
