May 7” circular datestamp on orange cover to Las Vegas N.M., receiving backstamp, reduced at left, some wear, 6c barely affected from placement near edge of cover, still Very Fine and rare New Mexico territorial use of 6c 1869, during this time period Las Vegas was mostly known as a stop on the Mormon Trail

Bright color, cancelled by neat strike of “Steamer Costa Rica P.M.S.S.Co.” handstamp, perfs scissors-separated, still a Very Fine strike, according to Michael Laurence’s book, the Costa Rica carried mails between Yokohama and Shanghai in China, it is not known used on cover and this is the first we have encountered on a 6c 1869 Pictorial which would have paid the interconsular rate, with 2009 P.F. certificate
