10c Yellow, Bluish (364). Block of four, h.r., intense shade on nicely blued paper, one or two trivial perf separations at top, bottom left stamp single perf tip thin FINE. A SCARCE ORIGINAL-GUM BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 10-CENT BLUISH PAPER ISSUE. Only 40 sheets (4,000 stamps) were printed of the 10c. Three plate blocks are known. We have offered only one other block of four since 1989. Scott Catalogue assigns only a $600.00 premium for a block of four versus four singles. Vibrant color on nicely blued paper, bold strike of duplex cancel and trace of circular datestamp at right, unusually choice centering for this difficult issue EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB SOUND USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1909 10-CENT ON BLUISH PAPER. THIS IS THE FINEST OF THE THIRTEEN OFF-COVER EXAMPLES RECORDED IN OUR CENSUS. Our census of Scott 364 used, illustrated at left and available at our website at http://siegelauctions.com/dynamic/census/364/364.pdf , records thirteen genuine off-cover examples, plus three used on covers.
