5c Dark Blue, Imperforate Pair (557a). Block of four, huge margins incl. sheet margin at left, top left stamp small h.r., three stamps Mint N.H., rich color EXTREMELY FINE. AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE MULTIPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1922 ISSUE — THIS IS THE FIRST WE HAVE OFFERED SINCE 2000. One or two panes of 100 are believed to exist. According to Gary Griffith, one was found in Stamford Conn. and was broken by Philip Ward. who numbered each stamp before dividing the pane. This block does not have the numbers, indicating that it probably came from the other pane. With 1999 P.F. certificate. Scott Retail as Mint N.H. and hinged pairs.
