Bottom imprint and plate no. 82 block of twenty with selvage at sides, plate no. 81 scored out below, without gum as issued, brilliant color, tiny piece of left selvage missing at top left FINE. AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER BLOCK OF 20 OF THE ONE-CENT EXECUTIVE WITH “SPECIMEN” OVERPRINT — COMPRISING THE FULL TWO BOTTOM ROWS OF THE PLATE. A MAGNIFICENT SHOWPIECE. After the plate number “81” was engraved on the 1c plate, it was realized that No. 81 had already been assigned to the 30c War plate. The number was scratched out and replaced with “82” above Position 7 and below Position 97.
