o 1851, 1¢ blue, type II, small break at bottom (7var.), position 1R1E, also showing a major double transfer, bright and fresh with full to oversize margins, including sheet margins at left and top, centered strike red Albion N.Y. c.d.s., Extremely Fine and quite striking. Scott value $190 ++ AN EXTRAORDINARY EXAMPLE OF THIS UNUSUAL SPECIALIST VARIETY THE ONLY ONE CERTIFIED AS SUCH BY THE PHILATELIC FOUNDATION. Expertization: 2006 PF Certificate noting the position and the variety. The break in the bottom frameline exists in the original entry of position 1R1E onto the plate; it is not a “transitional” position that evolved from a type II into a type IIIA as the plate wore. Technically, it could be classed as a type IIIA, though not considered so by Ashbrook nor any of his successors. The bottom line was strongly recut on the late state of the plate.
