5c Orange Brown (Scott 1b). Large to huge margins including parts or traces of four adjoining stamps, beautiful warm rich color on deeply blued paper, vivid red grid cancel (probably St. Louis or Mobile) EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE IN THE ORANGE BROWN SHADE, WHICH HAS BEEN GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E. — THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED. Ex Kirke. With 1982, 2005 P.F. and 2005 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $3,500.00). This is the highest grade awarded. While seven others share this grade, we doubt that any of the others possess the same combination of extra wide margin width, rich color and vivid red cancel.
