5c Grayish Brown (1 var). Large to huge margins including top left corner sheet margins, unusual shade from a late impression before the plate was reworked, neat strike of blue Philadelphia circular datestamp, tiny corner crease at bottom right outside of design, still an Extremely Fine Gem, a beautiful corner-margin copy of the 5c 1847 Issue in the Grayish Brown shade

5c Deep Orange Brown (Scott 1b). Position 1L1, enormous margins all around including top left corner sheet margins and entire frameline of adjoining stamp at bottom, extraordinary coppery shade on deeply blued paper, nicely contrasted by blue grid cancels, faint crease mostly in top margin EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE CORNER-MARGIN EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE IN A SPECTACULAR DEEP ORANGE BROWN SHADE. This distinctive Deep Orange Brown shade is rarely encountered. Compared with many 5c 1847 Orange Brown (or Brown Orange) stamps, which cover a wide spectrum of shades (including some undeserving washed-out examples with certificates), this intense Orange Brown on deeply blued paper is in a class of its own. To find this shade represented by a corner-margin example is even more remarkable. In fact, this is the only 5c Orange Brown corner-margin example we can locate in our database using Power Search. Ex Matthies.
