Dec. 21” circular datestamp on 1870 cover to London, England, addressed to the Commander of the U.S. Frigate Sabine, red Boston transit and receiving datestamps, also with red B.F. Stevens Despatch Agent’s handstamp, also with ms. “Genoa Jan. 7, 1870” at top left (probably indicating where delivered by the despatch agent), barely reduced at left, Extremely Fine, the Sabine was originally involved in the Civil War as part of the Atlantic Blockade Squadron and in 1860-70 served as a training ship in Europe and the Mediterranean, with 1993 and 2002 P.F. certificates
