Scott #230, 1c Columbian, top pane of 100 with two top imprint, plate “No. 17” and letter “J” blocks of eight, plus imprints at each side, a remarkably intact sheet due to the precaution taken of tiny hinge strips applied to the ungummed selvage on three sides and along the natural s.e. at bottom, minor natural gum wrinkles, particularly in positions 81 and 91, all 90 stamps other than the bottom row are never hinged including the two plate blocks, centering ranges from fine-extremely fine; only the 1c and 2c values were printed in sheets of 200, which when perforated horizontally were cut into two panes of a hundred in the same operation leaving partial arrows at sides along the straight edge side, these panes of 100 were then normally divided into two panes of 50 for counter sheets at the post offices; the full undivided panes were only available to the public at the Philatelic Agency in Washington; this intact double pane is especially rare, not only because double panes had limited distribution but also because over the years many became damaged or experienced significant separation due to their size; catalog value is for two n.h. plate blocks of eight, 74 n.h singles and ten s.e. l.h singles.
