90c Carmine & Black (Scott 122). Lightened ms. cancel, strong vignette shift to bottom and left, such shifts are very unusual and when encountered they are usually of minimal displacement, this is the largest we recall ever seeing and a variety that will surely be recognized for its scarcity by specialists, our estimate may prove to be conservative, signed Brettl Robert Siegel Auction Galleries, Jun 2010, Sale 992, Lot 2193 |

90c Carmine & Black (Scott 122). Unusually wide margins, rich colors on fresh paper, neat target cancel, Very Fine, with 2010 P.S.E. certificate (VF 80, SMQ price $2,000.00), we believe this is a strong 80 grade due to the almost Jumbo margins plus the target cancel, while commonly found on lower values, is not often seen on the 90c Robert Siegel Auction Galleries, Jun 2010, Sale 992, Lot 2191 |

90c Carmine & Black (Scott 122). Unusually choice centering with wide and balanced margins, bright colors, cancelled by Star in Circle fancy cancel which is clearly visible at lower right EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A STUNNING USED EXAMPLE OF THE 90-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE, WHICH IS THE RAREST DENOMINATION WITH A FANCY CANCELLATION. Due to the high denomination of the issue, it seems that many used examples of the 90c 1869 Pictorial Issue were cancelled by heavy corks, which were designed to prevent the reuse of the stamp. We have offered only a handful cancelled otherwise, and these are almost never seen with anything approaching a fancy design. When one factors centering and overall condition into the equation, the rarity of this stamp is multiplied exponentially. With 2007 P.F. and 2008 P.S.E. certificates (both graded XF-Superb 95, SMQ value $8,500.00). Only two have graded higher to date, and the fancy cancel on this stamp should propel it to a higher grade. Robert Siegel Auction Galleries, Jun 2010, Sale 989, Lot 133 |
