Scott $260 for no gum. Estimate price $300 – 400.

2c Brown, Re-Issue (124). Block of four, original gum, deep rich color and detailed impression VERY FINE. A RARE ORIGINAL-GUM BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 2-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL RE-ISSUE. We estimate that no more than seven or eight blocks of the 2c 1869 Re-Issue exist, including two blocks of six, two sheet-margin blocks, and three blocks of four. We have offered only one other since our 1998 Zoellner sale. Ex Sinkler, Hetherington and Anderson. With 1970 and 1992 P.F. certificates. In our opinion, the Scott premium for a block versus four singles ($4,500.00 vs. $2,600.00) does not accurately reflect its scarcity, nor is it commensurate with the double and triple premiums assigned to the higher-denomination blocks.
