Providence, R.I., 1846, 5¢ gray black (Scott 10X1), pen check mark cancellation, extremely attractive example of this rarely offered used Providence Provisional, completely sound in all respects except for the faint toning which is barely perceptible, a ridiculously undervalued used stamp that is much scarcer in used condition than mint; light overall toning, otherwise Very Fine, 2007 P.F. and 2012 Weiss certificates. Scott $1,900. Estimate price $750 – 1,000.

Providence, R.I., 5¢ & 10c gray black complete sheet (Scott 10X1), complete sheet of 12, o.g., hinged on just the top and bottom stamps, with the middle six stamps in immaculate Never Hinged condition, marvelous high quality sheet with full original gum – rare thus, as most of these sheets were cut up years ago to supply collector demand for nice quality singles, a condition rarity; slight overall toning is extremely light, and is of little consequence, otherwise Extremely Fine. Scott $5,500. Estimate $3,000 – 4,000.
