10c Black (2). Horizontal strip of three, large margins to barely touched at bottom right, faint horizontal crease at bottom and some slight age spotting VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A SCARCE STRIP OF THREE OF THE 10-CENT 1847 ISSUE. As an indication of the rarity of 10c 1847 multiples larger than a pair, Scott assigns a value of $3,000 for a pair, but $10,500 for the strip of three. Pairs or two singles would often be used on double 10c rate covers, but strips of three, blocks of four or other large multiples were infrequently used. Ex Long.
