24c Grayish Lilac (Scott 78a). Deep rich color and proof-like impression, gorgeous centering with wide and balanced margins, light cancel leaves entire design clearly visible, P.F. certificate notes light diagonal crease at right, but this shows faintly only for two seconds when first placed in fluid and does not flash white when drying, furthermore not a trace shows under cross-lighting, which makes us wonder if this is a paper mesh factor (for example, a flaw in the screen during production) and not really a crease, in any case Extremely Fine Gem appearance with a clear P.S.E. graded certificate as XF-Superb 95 (SMQ price $3,500.00), so quite desirable for a collector who cares more about stamps than experts’ opinions (or for a dealer with a paper shredder), ex Natalee Grace, with 2012 P.F. and 2009 P.S.E. certificates Robert Siegel Auction Galleries, Apr 2014, Sale 1068, Lot 108 |
