2c State, Specimen Ovpt. (O58S). Positions 31-32/81-82, 53-57/93-97, 78-80/98-100, part sheet of 46 from rejoined vertical blocks of 12, 25 and 9, without gum as issued, bottom with part imprint and plate no. 59 as well as the Position 98 major double transfer, most stamps with perfs at least clear of design, some toning between perfs in a few places and some minor perf separations as would be expected in such a multiple FINE-VERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE PART IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER MULTIPLE OF THE 2-CENT STATE DEPARTMENT SPECIAL PRINTING. ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE SHOWING THE MAJOR DOUBLE TRANSFER IN POSITION 98. All the State Department issues below the dollar denominations were printed from sheets of 100 stamps. Position 98 on the 2c plate contains one of the most pronounced double transfers of any Official issue. Combining it with a multiple which also shows the part imprint and plate number makes this one of the most outstanding Official Special Printing items extant.
