Bottom imprint and plate no. 85 strip of three, original gum, rich color and proof-like impression, few perf separations sensibly reinforced, few tears in selvage, few small toned spots, some staining at right FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER STRIP OF THE 1894 $5.00 UNWATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS NOT KNOWN AS A FULL PLATE BLOCK — AN IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER STRIP IS THE ONLY MULTIPLE (ASIDE FROM A BLOCK OF FOUR WITH IMPRINT ONLY) TO COME CLOSE. The dollar values of the unwatermarked Bureau issues had the top selvage cut to accommodate the available perforating machine. Therefore, no top plate numbers exist for the dollar values in any form.

A SUPERB TOP POSITION PLATE BLOCK OF THE $5.00 BUREAU ISSUE ON CARD. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a top position plate block of the $5.00. There are no plate blocks recorded for the unwatermarked issue (Scott 263). Also, for the unwatermarked dollar values the top plates were all trimmed away prior to perforating.
